Abdul Dosunmu
Founder & Chief Strategist
A civil rights lawyer and movement-builder with experience in political campaigns, government, and community engagement, Abdul Dosunmu is the Founder and Chief Strategist of the Young Black Lawyers’ Organizing Coalition (YBLOC), a network of young Black lawyers and law students who are working to protect and empower Black electoral voice. Formerly an appointee of President Barack Obama to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Abdul served as Special Assistant to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony R. Foxx and Advisor to the Department’s Chief of Staff, helping to advance Secretary Foxx’s work to promote safety, innovation, and equity in transportation. He also served as a Senior Associate at Precision Strategies, a prominent digital, data, communications and campaign management firm, where he developed strategic communications for progressive advocacy campaigns, foundations, and civic startups. Abdul received his B.A. from the University of Chicago, where he was awarded the Howell Murray Alumni Association Award, one of the College’s highest honors, and was inducted into the honorary Maroon Key Society. He received his J.D. from NYU School of Law, where he was a Furman Public Policy Scholar. Abdul has been featured in media outlets such as the CBS Evening News, BuzzFeed, NowThis, Univision, Gothamist, Roland Martin Unfiltered and the Chicago Tribune.
